97 percent of the 1 million m³ of wood offered in wood auctions was bought in the 1st half of 2017

December 6 of this year marked the end of wood auctions in the Roundwood Electronic Sales System (AMEPS) for entering into half-year and long-term contracts for the purchase and sale of roundwood and logging waste in the 1st half of 2017.

In the auctions, wood processing companies purchased from state forestry enterprises some 97 percent (i.e. 954,000 m³) of the roundwood offered by state forests. In total more than 2,400 bids to acquire the roundwood were submitted.

Oak, birch, black alder sawlogs, aspen and ash pulpwood logs were the most popular – purchasers bought the entire offered amount. Demand for ash logs was low – only 71 percent of them were purchased.
