European People’s Festival in Radviliskis
The European People’s Festival was first organised in 1992 in the Belgian city of Libramont. The primary goal of the festival is to promote communication and cooperation among the citizens of the European Union regardless of their political, religious, racial or other differences, and to create a coherent European community. In order to achieve this goal, each year an international event is organised in yet another member state of the European People’s Festival, visited up to 1,000 participants from other countries.
In 2018, the European People’s Festival will be held in Radviliškis. The festival is organised not in the capital or metropolitan cities pampered by the abundance of cultural events but instead in relatively small cities or towns with approximately 20 thousand of residents that can boast of their history, crafts, prominent creative people, or active communities. The wood processing company UAB Juodeliai also contributes to this exciting initiative as a general sponsor.
The festival is a great opportunity not only to introduce our country but also to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of other nations. The participants of the event will rally in various friendly sports competitions, photography and drawing contests, present their culture and traditions in spectacular performances, offer to taste culinary heritage dishes and present their country in specially designed stands.
