FSC Chain of Custody surveillance audit successfully completed at UAB Juodeliai

In the last week of March, an annual FSC Chain of Custody surveillance audit was carried out at the wood processing company UAB Juodeliai. Two FSC standards were updated in the past year (Chain of Custody and Trademark).

The purpose of the audit is to assess the compliance of UAB Juodeliai activities with the requirements of the Chain of Custody (FSC-STD-40-004 V3-1), Controlled Wood (FSC-STD-40-005 V3-1) and Trademark (FSC-STD-50-001 V2-1) standards. The annual audit was carried out by the company’s long-standing partner – the international certification organisation UAB NEPCon Lt.

The audit was started at the company’s central office in Marijampolė. It included a review of the Chain of Custody procedures, an analysis of the Due Diligence System (DDS), and compliance of the procedures to the updated requirements of the standards. In the following days, the production facilities in Jūrė Village, Akmenynai Village, Radviliškis and Marijampolė were visited, where raw material acceptance, production, issue of sales and transportation documents and accounting were reviewed. The UAB NEPCon Lt auditor also visited one of the company’s outsourcing service providers and participated in the assessment of the contractor’s compliance with the occupational health and safety requirements for manual deforestation.

Upon completion of the audit, we are happy not only to have received a positive assessment from the UAB NEPCon Lt auditor, but also useful recommendations which encourage improvement and pursuing higher standards of quality.
